A Note from Pastor Andrew regarding COVID-19 and BCC’s Response
Dear BCC Family,
It is with a sense of sadness but also goodness, that I let you know we will be canceling our services this weekend along with all classes, youth groups, and gatherings. This is not a decision that I made lightly. In fact, it was my strong desire to continue to meet. In a time of fear and worry, we need God more than ever. We need to remember who we are and that our hope is in Christ. Just as strongly, we need to shine the light and extend the hand of hope and fellowship to those around us who are also scared.
We may need to suspend our activities for a longer period of time than just this weekend, but because of the rapidly changing information, I would like to make a declarative statement only about this weekend. Be prepared for more emails in the days ahead as we communicate through this time, clinging to God and his word, and BEING the church as well as we can.
A few other notes:
The staff and I are going to be working on how to keep us connected during this time. This will include us sending out a video message this Sunday along with other suggestions on how we can stay in community in different ways. I encourage you to CALL each other this week, both to check in on one another and our neighbors. Mostly, know that we love you all. We are more than a Sunday gathering, and we need one another more now than ever. So let’s not get isolated. Reach out, call, email, text, tweet, Facebook, all that stuff…If you need help, ask for it, and if you can help, offer it! In it all, know we are praying for you. Let’s hold each other and our community together in prayer and love, and see how the Lord might move mightily among us.
A friend wrote this to his congregation, and I thought it was good:
Nothing can stop the body of Christ from praising God!
Nothing can stop the body of Christ from getting on its knees in fervent prayer for healing!
Nothing can stop the body of Christ from demonstrating God’s justice and compassion!
Nothing can stop the body of Christ from having courage and hope in the risen Jesus!
May we be the church, brothers and sisters, and know that I write this with so much love for each of you,Pastor Andrew
BCC COVID-19 Immediate Precautionary Measures
Effective March 16, 2020
Sunday Worship Moved Online for at least through March 29th. A video of our modified worship service will be made available through email. We encourage everyone to worship at home and to set aside time to join us in prayer between 10:30-11:30am. Our church campus will be closed until further notice.
Giving and Stewardship
Many churches experience a significant drop in giving when physical attendance is low. This can negatively impact our ministry. Would you please consider remaining faithful to our joint commitment to giving despite our campus closures? We are grateful for the generosity of so many in our community. Every contribution of the body of Christ makes a difference!
Cancellation of All Events and Meetings at BCC Until Further Notice
Office Hours and Pastoral Care
Berkeley Covenant office staff will also be working remotely and will be available by phone and/or email. Our pastors will continue to provide care and ministry as needed for our church. If there is any way we can help you during this time, please contact our pastors through our website or via phone.
Mustard Seed Preschool
Our MSP Preschool will be closed until April 4th.
We will continue to provide email, web, and Facebook updates at least weekly in response to any changing information and public health recommendations.
